Fun-filled SBVS bazaar takes off!

Guest of honour checking out a prototype vehicle designed by SBVS students

Sultan Bolkiah Vocational School (SBVS) yesterday launched a three-day bazaar at Seria OGDC to boost entrepreneur spirit among students.

Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos was on hand to launch the bazaar, which was organised by the Business and Commercial Department of the school.

In his welcoming speech, Principal Akandi bin Hj Abd Razak said the bazaar is organised to promote school efforts and provide awareness among students to consider a business as a career option. At the same time, it is only being held in the name of charity and to raise funds for SMARTER Brunei.

A host of activities await visitors, among them an exhibition, outdoor games, entertainment and other exciting to-dos, while food stalls are readily available to ensure visitors are not left hungry.

The bazaar is a continuation to the school SLP Project which commenced mid last year to establish the school cooperative as well as to expand students' business capabilities in order to achieve quality and relevant teaching and learning experience.

He highlighted, the project demonstrates a positive and significant outcome. The cooperative project acts as a learning tool or mechanism for students as school members to sell or offer their goods or services through this platform.

The project also supports His Majesty's aspirations for the strengthening of business training programmes for youths, particularly those in the field of business management, finance, technical and marketing. Therefore, the business programme is developed to get students involved in the field of entrepreneurship through training programmes whether formal or not. Additionally, it equips students with skills as it prepares them for competitions and challenges outside.

The slogan for the bazaar is 'Hooray Hooray' and it opens opportunity for students to gain experience, interact with the public as well as compete with each other as well as other established vendors at the bazaar. The students will be assessed by their respective teachers throughout the bazaar and their evaluation will be based on the production of sale items, booths and others.

A rental fee of $225 is imposed on participating vendors and the funds will be fully donated to SMARTER organisation. SBVS has also collaborated with Giant Hypermarket for the sale of recycled bags. Half of the proceeds will go to the SMARTER charity organisation.

Side events include performances by a karate group, local singers and bands, as well as traditional dancers, while a colouring competition and games (bouncer, nerf, flying fox, etc) will keep the kids entertained.

The bazaar will also include exhibition by Agriculture and Agri-Food Department, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Narcotics Control Bureau Belait, Business Development Centre, Business School, SMARTER Brunei, IET, HRD Services and IGS College among others.

Meanwhile, SMARTER Brunei students will perform tomorrow afternoon for the closing ceremony, which is expected to be done by Belait District Officer Matusin bin OKS Haji Tuba.

On Wednesday 09th February 2011, with such a warm weather and sunny day there was an occasion held on that day that is the 'PRE NATIONAL DIPLOMA' Convo. on that day there are three courses who participate that is ' BUSINESS AND FINANCE, COMPUTER STUDIES, AND LAST NOT LEAST THE AUTOMOTIVE STUDENTS.' Everyone was happy and excited to receive their certificates, well on that day teachers, students, Principal, Asst. Principal. on that day itself 'SULTAN BOLKIAH VOKASIONAL SCHOOL' also held an open day for public view on the next coming intake in july. so each department have their own facilities and organiser to organise what is going on that day. here are some pictures of the automotive students.

2011 Shell Eco-marathon Americas Kicks Off 5th Year

The Shell Eco-marathon challenges high school and college student teams from around the world to design, build and test energy efficient vehicles. With annual events in the Americas, Europe and Asia, the winners are the teams that go the farthest distance using the least amount of energy.

The Shell Eco-marathon Asia taking place 6-9 July 2011 at the Sepang International Circuit.

Registration opens for student design challenge to discover who can go the farthest distance using the least amount of energy.

wow!.. its been a while since last post. well all we can say congrats to the pnd/auto/01 who manage to continue their next semester together. so all we can say is welcome NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING! *way to go boys* but to Aminur Shahreen we miss you always.. WELL.. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.. FUHH! SCHOOL AS USUALL STARTS ON THE 4TH OF JANUARY 2010! LIKE USUAL THE BOYS COME BACK TO SCHOOL WITH THE HOLIDAY MOOD STILL.. WE TRANSFERRED CLASS FROM THE 1ST FLOOR TO THE GROUND FLOOR LOCATED NEAR TO THE DEPARTMENTS OFFICE.. THE CLASS IS WAY MUCH BETTER LOOKING NOW AFTER THE CLEANING CAMPAIGN DO.. WE EVEN HAD OUR OWN LOCKERS AND TABLES ON OUR OWN..THE TABLE AND CHAIRS ARE BRAND NEW AND NICE LOOKING.. THEN ON THE 11TH OF JANUARY 2010 THE NTC2 AUTOTEK NEW INTAKES WERE ACCEPTED TO JOIN THE SCHOOL THEY CONSISTS OF BOYS AND GIRLS.. THEY ARE FRIENDLY STUDENTS WHICH THE FIRST DAY THE JOINED VERY WELL FOR THE ORIENTATION DAY WHICH HAPPENS TO BE FOR TWO DAYS.. FROM THE PND/AUTO/O1, AMIN, ZULFADLI, AND BAKHTIAR JOINED THE ORIENTATION TO RAGGED THE NEW INTAKES.. THEY SEEMS TO ENJOY THEIR FIRST DAY IN SCHOOL.. =).. THEN ON THE 13TH OF JANUARY THE PND/AUTO CLEANS THEIR ONLY TOILET WHICH COMES TO A STORY WHICH PEOPLE USES THE TOILET AND DONT EVEN KNOW HOW TO FLUSH THE TOILET AND EVERYTHING.. THIS RELATED TO WHERE'S THE MANNERS AND DISCIPLINE OF A STUDENT.. WELL TO OTHER STUDENTS SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE ABOUT THE TOILET WHICH IS NOW LOCKED.. well this year first intake of the new course in mechanical in automotive has 16 students altogether with one group coordinator that is Sir Azhar. This year intake consists of all boys with different locations and age. This year was a special year for all the students in the class because it feels very lucky to be one of the PND students in the automotive course. Firstly we have different subjects with different teachers, which wil be stated below later on who is the teacher to every subject. Lets start with the class monitor and guider who is called Amin (Aminur) who is a very polite and helpful student to all the teachers, and friendly to all the students in the class. He was selected to take good care of the class when there is any work or when there is problems between the class. He is also responsible to remind all the student for the cleanliness and safety of a student whether in class or when we are in the workshop. He is also were to remind all the students about the rules and discipline given by the school. Then secondly the students who are in the class are: SHAMSUL, ZULFADLI, BAKHTIAR, RAFI, MADI, AIZAM, TIMMY, AMIN, AYIP, SHAHBIRIN, AMZ, BOLAT, BOI, ZAYLAN, SHEIKH AND AZMIE. All of the students are mostly from Bandar, Tutong, and Kuala Belait. 8 students are staying at the provided hostel which is located near to Sekolah Menengah Perdana Wazir Kb. The rest of the students just drive to school and some are sent by their parents. As part of this course two students were from the school too before after finishing their ntc2 in automotive. With their willingness to continue their study up to this level they actually got the offered to be in the PND's. The two students are shahbirin and zulfadli who is very friendly and a little naughty too. Well thats all about the PND AUTOMOTIVE 2009! we will continue again next time.
